Spring 2013

Spring is finally here
& we are loving this warm weather!

Camden is such a fun, smart and energetic ONE year old! He is constantly running around and getting into EVERYTHING! Pulling open cupboards and drawers, reaching for things on the counters and tables, trying to climb on the couches, getting into the DVD's and spreading them across the living room, pushing the TV buttons, and his favorite...finding the WII remotes and pushing those buttons. (We thought we would be sneaky and let him play with one that doesn't have batteries...he knows, and doesn't like it.)

One of Camden's favorite things to do is go outside. After a long and miserable winter, he was tired of being cooped up inside and so was I! On nice days we spend our time in the little yard that we have, kicking and throwing the ball (his all time favorite toy), blowing bubbles, playing with chalk (more for mom than for baby), and playing with our neighbor friends! Camden loves it. We also spend lots of time with Grammy Tami and Grandpa Jim out in their yard. For Camden's birthday my parents got Camden a swing to put up in the tree in their yard. He loves it! He loves riding in his wagon, playing in his sandbox and riding his bike. The toys and Grammy's house are so much more fun than the ones at home! When it's time to come inside is were the temper tantrums begin. Over the last couple of months we've had to deal with a much more dramatic Camden. Not to say he still isn't a happy baby, but when he gets mad, or doesn't get what he wants...it's an instant melt down. Crying, throwing himself on the floor, kicking legs, head thrown back...it's quite a show. I should get him into acting. I asked the doc about it (The poor guy has to deal with me and my 30 questions every visit) where he could have learned to throw such a fit, and he said it was a natural thing for babies around his age...so I'm clarifying, I swear I am not teaching him how to be a brat, that just comes natural! ;)

Camden loves to dance, if you put music on he will shake his bum, bounce up and down, swing his arms and occasionally spin in circles. His new thing is watching Yo Gabba Gabba. I've always made a strong point that I don't want my children glued in front of the TV, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and when it's the only thing that makes a grumpy baby happy....you bet I'll be turning on some cartoons! :) He loves the music, and as goofy and weird as the show is, I don't really mind watching it either!

On his bike, naked, watching Gabba Gabba.
Skateboarding with Dad.
Drawing with chalk & looking cute doing it!

Other than his ball, I would say Camden's next favorite thing is reading stories. He will pull books off of the shelf and sit in your lap and let you read. He loves pop up books and anything with little tabs to look under. One of my favorite things in the world is walking in a room and seeing Cody and Camden snuggled up reading books. It's the only time we can sneak some cuddle time in with our rambunctious, on-the-go, baby. It's so sweet. I hope it's something he never grows out of!

We've been trying to teach Camden sign language for awhile now. He first learned "all done" and that was about all we could get him to do. These last few months he's been learning a lot more. His signing vocabulary now include "more", "please", and "hungry". I've been trying to teach him "thank-you" but instead of signing it, he usually can just say it! Camden is full of little words. "Ball" "bath" "dog" "woof" "papa" "car" and "Bubba" are just some of his newer ones. He's good at mimicking sounds, so sometimes he will surprise you with a sound that actually is a word, although he has no idea what it means. He learns so much so quickly, before I know it he will be using full sentences!

Camden still only has 4 teeth. His 2 middle bottom teeth and two top teeth, not the two front teeth, the two side teeth. He looks like a little vampire. I was worried at first, thinking these two teeth were his front ones with just an extremely large gap..but the doctor confirmed that they weren't and quite a few babies actually grow these teeth before their front ones! sigh of relief. At his one year check-up with the doctor, I was told that Camden is right on track with his development. His height at one year was 29' (21%). His weight was 18.3 lbs. (1%) and his head circumference was at 17.5' (5%). Healthy as a horse...a little horse.

Cody is done with his spring semester and we are excited to get to spend more time together this summer! He has been busier than ever this semester and it's only going to get worse. It still amazes me that he is doing so well and is not completely burned out. Hopefully a restful summer will get him ready for whats to come this fall. We need some family time and we are excited for the break! No summer school for him and we couldn't be more excited! Camden loves his daddy. If Daddy is home, Camden is by his side. If anyone tries to steal him away, he gets mad and clings to Cody like he is being kid-napped. As much as I hate it, I think it's great that he loves his dad so much. Cody really is the best most fun dad ever. Camden is a lucky boy.

Here are a few pictures of us hanging out in the warm weather.
We took Camden on a walk and he loved exploring and being able to run free!

We love playing outside! Summer can't come soon enough!
Thanks for stopping by!
Love, The Wayment's
