Yesterday after we were told that we were going to have to stay another day at the hospital we got some surprising news that they figured out what was causing all of little Camden's problems! The labs came back from the biopsy and what they discovered had been, in fact, a food allergy. The clusters of red in the colon and intestine had actually been an over production of white blood cells. They were not infected, or inflamed, but they were most likely pretty painful. To get rid of this and all of the other symptoms all we needed to do is simply switch to formula. No more breast feeding. Because the lab results confirmed the allergy we were sent home! Camden no longer needed the CT scan. He doesn't even need to follow up with the GI specialist. He just needs to continue going to his routine visits to the pediatrician.
We are happy that the problem is so easily fixed. I wish there was a way I could continue to nurse, mostly just because of the convenience of it. I am glad that I at least tried. We are hoping that Camden will feel completely better soon! He was such a little trooper in the hospital. Such a brave kid. We are so happy to be home! Spending 4 days in the hospital is no fun! I hope we never have to go back. It was such a scary weekend for me. I don't think I can go through that again.
Thank you everyone for your prayers. It really helped so much!
